Samantha Rudd grew up in Napa Valley at Rudd Estate, founded by her father in 1996. From an early age, she embraced her father’s vision of improving the land, the wine, and the lives of those who make it all possible. Raised with lessons in stewardship, earned success, and an uncompromising commitment to excellence, these values continue to guide Rudd in fine winemaking and restaurant ownership.
Rudd gained experience beyond the family business, working with esteemed négociants in Paris and renowned wineries such as Château Margaux and Spottswoode—both female-led estates in a traditionally male-dominated industry. She returned to Rudd Estate in 2015 and, following her father’s passing, dedicated herself to elevating Napa Valley’s wine culture at PRESS. Partnering with Chef Philip Tessier, she has helped evolve the restaurant while honoring Napa’s winemaking legacy and highlighting emerging talent.
Under Rudd’s leadership, PRESS earned its first Michelin Star in 2022 alongside Chef Tessier and Managing Partner Justin Williams. Expanding on this success, the team will launch Under-Study, a new culinary marketplace and café, in late spring 2025, further deepening their commitment to Napa Valley’s food and wine community.
